I Did These Intimate Portraits Solely For Me! Ladies, I want to share a few of my photos from my boudoir photo shoot with J.R. To be honest, I was hesitant and very nervous to do this at first, but I am so glad that I did.
Remember that a boudoir shoot can be the first step on the journey of self-love. We all come from different backgrounds and have different stories… and let’s be honest, most women and mama’s have so much on our plates. In this constant chaos, we become oblivious to our own self-worth and sometimes all we need is to take a step back and give ourselves some self-care and reassurance. You see, I’m a divorced single mama who had just turned 40 at the time that I did the shoot, so I did these Intimate Portraits solely for me! I was insecure about my veins, cellulite and my small breasts, and I voiced these concerns to J.R. When I got the photos back, I couldn’t stop staring at them.
I decided to just focus on myself and let the brilliant photographer worry about everything else. JR was very professional, and he guided me through different poses so that the photos were flattering and classy, while being very patient and funny the whole time. It’s such an amazing experience, the more you open yourself up, the better you’ll feel. This photo shoot is about YOU, pick out your sexiest lingerie that makes you feel confident and go to town! I personally decided to go for a black piece as a statement of strength with an unbuttoned shirt as a symbol of exposing my vulnerability.
Remind yourself that you’re unique in your own way, you know what you can bring to the table and the only validation you need is from yourself. I’ve let people’s assumptions and opinions get to me for too long, and this photo shoot helped me to block out all the noise and chaos in my head. I realized that the journey of appreciating yourself is difficult and long but at the end it’s all worth it. Seeing yourself in the mirror and finally smiling at your reflection is worth it. I found the experience very empowering. I believe all women are beautiful and we should always support one another…. And that’s why I wanted to share my experience with you all.
